Holiday to Remember

The Old Barracks Rosscarbery. We stayed at The Barracks which is a unique and historical place to stay. Gail the owner is lovely, we had a fantastic welcome. Gail had prepared afternoon tea. She has decorated the place in a vintage style which is my thing. We were in the centre of Rosscarbery and really felt we were part of the community. It is a beautiful place. The locals are friendly. We had fantastic weather. The Barracks is situated near lovely cafes and restaurants. We sat out in the evening. The Rosscarbery family festival was on so we really got the Irish experience! My son went to the open air disco in the square. The barracks has everything you could possibly need. There is an outside area and a bbq. Thank you Gail we had a great time and hoping to come back.

A beuitiful home in a excelent location

The Old Barracks Rosscarbery. A beautiful house, full of character. Was perfect for our 3 night stay with 3 young children. Gail supplied everything we could possibly need or want and all we had to bring was our clothes. We can't wait for an opportunity to return. Rosscarbery is a wonderful place, full of charm ... A great place to relax and a base to explore West Cork from.

Great !

The Old Barracks Rosscarbery evokes the spirit of times gone by whilst providing all the equipment for a comfortable, modern holiday home. I loved it. Being in the centre of the village is very convenient for shopping, eating out and pubs with music. There is an excellent bus service to Cork City (great if you want a day in Cork without the hassle of taking a car) and services west to other coastal villages and towns. There are lovely beaches a pleasant stroll away and all sorts of water sports nearby. Coming back to The Old Barracks after a long day out is like coming home. Thank you Gail for your hospitality and generous welcome pack! I'll be back!

Great addition to town.

The Old Barracks Rosscarbery. This is a great place to base yourself for your break in West Cork. The house has two good sized double rooms, sitting room, dining room, well equipped kitchen, and a good family bathroom. There is a small rear garden complete with a picnic table. There are futons for a further 3 or 4 folk, but the place is best suited to two couples or one family. The place has been set up to feel like a home from home, it feels comfy and welcoming. Gail sets you up with a great welcome pack, so you need bring nothing with you other than clothes. Rosscarberry has excellent, pubs, restaurants and a hotel with a leisure suite you can use (for a daily or weekly fee). It is also an excellent base for touring West Cork, cycling or walking. Its a great home from home.

Simply fantastic.

Located in an idyllic location; in the beautiful, friendly and tranquil village of Ardfield, only a 5 min journey to Clonakility. With a family of 5 (including 3 teenagers), the facilities greatly surpassed the meticulous teen scrutiny. We absolutely enjoyed our stay here and wished to have done so for longer.

Wood Rd Lodge. We had an amazing week in Gail's lodge, starting from the freshly baked rhubarb cake that was waiting for us as we stepped in 🙂 The place had everything you could possibly need and our little kids loved it from beginning to end. A wide garden for them to play, a beach 5 minutes away and Inchidoney beach in Clonakilty...

Wood Rd Lodge. As a seasoned self-catering traveller this property met all my needs. It was very well equipped from the welcome food pack on arrival to all the essentials and more: toiletries, tourist information, recipe books, extra bedding, a basket of picnic essentials, etc. a real home from home! I liked the quietness of the location, the outside space with picnic table and chairs, the closeness to Clonakilty and an Irish country pub only two minutes' up the road! The hostess, Gail, ensured my comfort was a priority. I am planning a return trip very soon.

Best ever brownies

Wood Road Lodge... Had a fantastic stay July 2015. Gail was so welcoming and friendly. There was a lovely welcoming tea on our arrival with fresh scones , homemade brownies, everything you could need in terms of milk , tea, coffee, bread after a long journey with kids in tow. The cottage was so neat and clean a lovely space to relax in . Everything you needed for a day at the beach ( Inchydoney ) was available at the cottage so this place would be great for anyone flying in with limited baggage. The kids had a fantastic time - lots of outside space to place , games , books , videos , a really friendly dog to play with (this was their no.1 favourite holiday highlight). Well positioned for touring the whole of county Cork and just google Inchydoney beach.Thank you Gail for being a fantastic host and rescuing our washing from the rain!

So welcoming

Wood Rd Lodge. Even though ours was just a short stay, Gail had fresh scones for us on arrival. She also had milk, butter, jam, marmalade and eggs in the fridge. We really really appreciated such a nice gesture . She couldn't have done more for us. Gail also suggested places for us to eat which were fantastic. The property was very clean. It was very spacious downstairs and the bedrooms were cheerful and bright. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows nice and soft, even the bed linen was of very good quality. It was an ideal location to visit different places. People from Cork are so friendly. We will definitely return.

We,ll be back!

The Sergeants Cottage - we'll be back! The welcome pack was excellent with lovely scones, flowers and essential food stuff. Gail met us and ensured that we were familiar with everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The cottage was an excellent retreat for us both and our little dog. It is ideally situated near to restaurants and the local shop. It's also very handy having a pub nearby for food or a night cap. If you wish to tour around beautiful West Cork the Sergeant's Cottage is an excellent base.

The Old Barracks July 2017

This was our third stay in The Old Barracks with our 13year old daughter. It still remains a special place that just keeps on giving. From the beginning, with the welcome pack, you feel a part of the village with everything you want to hand. This house has a vintage cosiness and is a credit to Gail and her family.

Wonderful stay.

“Gail and her husband were incredible hosts, so kind and helpful. The Sergeant's Cottage was absolutely stunning. It's clean, cozy, immaculately decorated and bursting with character. It has all the mod cons while being full of old-world character. We had the most wonderful stay and have recommended it to friends and family as the perfect base from which to explore West Cork. Rosscarbery itself where the cottage is located is a beautiful, quaint little village and packs a serious punch in terms of restaurants and cute pubs despite its small size. We had the most fantastic time eating our way around the area, going on all the lovely walks and spending a day at Inchydoney Spa. It was absolutely idyllic. Overall we had a wonderful trip and a great experience with Gail. She took excellent care of us and we could not have asked for nicer accommodation.”
